Interesting Andrew Jackson facts:

  1. Andrew Jackson holds the distinction of being the first President recorded being physically attacked. Jackson was sailing down to Fredericksburg, Virginia on the USS Cygnet. He was going to lay the cornerstone on a monument nigh the grave of Mary Ball Washington (George Washington's mother). Before, Jackson had dismissed Robert B. Randolph from the Navy for embezzlement. On a stopover nigh Alexandria, Virginia, on the way to Fredericksburg, Randolph appeared and struck President Jackson. Randolph so fled. Members of Jackson'southward party, and writer Washington Irving, chased Randolph downwardly. Jackson decided not to press charges.
  2. Andrew Jackson is credited with being the founder of the Autonomous Political party. Jackson is i of xiv Presidents who was a Democrat. The other Democratic Presidents were: Martin Van Buren, James Grand. Polk, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Neb Clinton, and Barack Obama. John Tyler and Andrew Johnson are a little fuzzy on which political party they actually were a part of, so, depending on your slant on them, they might be two more to add to the list.
  3. Andrew Jackson is one of only 7 Presidents who was both built-in and died on the same twenty-four hour period of the week. Jackson was born on a Sunday and he died on a Lord's day. The other Presidents that were born on and died on the same mean solar day of the week were: James Madison (Tuesdays), Martin Van Buren (Thursdays), Franklin Pierce (Fridays), Woodrow Wilson (Sundays), Warren G. Harding (Thursdays), and Calvin Coolidge (Thursdays).

My favorite Andrew Jackson Quotes:

One man with courage makes a bulk.

To victors belong the spoils.

Never have counsel of your fears.

You must pay the cost if y'all wish to secure the blessing.

It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes.

I have always been agape of banks.

Comments:

When looking at our electric current President, Donald Trump, many wait at the similarities to Andrew Jackson. Personally, I think information technology is probably a little too early in Trump's assistants to compare him to anyone yet. Merely Jackson was the original "Rally the Common Man" President. In fact, right subsequently Jackson was sworn in, he invited that "mutual human being" to gloat his new administration at his new home, The White House. They trashed the identify. I firmly believe that our government belongs to its citizens, not that our government is above its citizens. I applaud Jackson's resolve to motivate citizens to accept an active part in our authorities. But Jackson's own stubbornness was also the cause for his just average ranking. He was determined to get his way on the banking issue, to the point that it brought our nation to an most financial collapse. I promise our current President looks at President Jackson and comes to realize that stubbornness can only comport you so far.

Favorite Andrew Jackson story:

My favorite Andrew Jackson story happened on Jan xxx, 1835. Jackson was leaving the U.s.a. Capitol after attending the funeral of Due south Carolina Representative Warrant R. Davis. Every bit he was leaving, an unemployed business firm painter named Richard Lawrence pulled out a pistol, aimed straight at Jackson, and pulled the trigger. The pistol failed to fire. Undeterred, Lawrence pulled out a second pistol, aimed direct at Jackson once again, and pulled the trigger again. Again the pistol failed to burn. Everyone stood around stunned. Jackson, who was older and in frail health was walking with a cane at the time. As everyone stood effectually, not knowing what to do, Jackson started beating Lawrence with his cane. Finally, someone restrained Lawrence. The strangest thing is, the pistols were both tested over and over again, later the bump-off attempt, and there was nothing incorrect with them.
